KANE'S BASEMENT

The Band at Upstart Festival with Cormac singing and playing saxophone in front

"The band your cool friend is a fan of"

Not our words, the words of the people. Kane's Basement is not just a band but a sonic experience similar to that of a lion cub taking its first roar out for a spin.

They're an unfettered, genre-bending mix of funk, jazz, indie rock and soul. Get on the Kane train wile you can.

About

Kane’s Basement are an indie-funk four piece hailing from Cork city in Ireland, who describe themselves as “The real cure for the summertime blues”. With a diverse repertoire incorporating elements of jazz, r&b, and spoken word, they’ve gained quite the following in their hometown.

All meeting in college, Cormac was recruited as singer after Neil, Patrick and Tom's previous singer was called up for the next moon mission.

While only on the scene for just over a year, they’ve released three well received singles and were crowned winners of their regional “Battle of the Bands” competition, winning festival space and a recording contract.

With the upcoming release of their debut EP, a concept piece chronicling a night on the town, they show display their ability for introspective and sometimes sarcastic lyrical personalities.

Inspired by artists such as Vulfpeck, The Police, Prefab Sprout and Amy Winehouse, their eclectic tastes match their electric performances on stage. They have managed to attract the praise of indie legends such as The Sultans of Ping and The Love Buzz and are sure to be the ones to watch for 2024.

They recently played as part of the Other Voices line up in UCC as well as selling out Cyprus Avenue in their hometown of Cork.
